Miss Roopa Bangari

Consultant Gynaecologist

Miss Roopa Bangari is a consultant gynaecologist with over 20 years of experience in general gynaecology and a specialist focus on gynaecological cancers, particularly cervical and uterine cancer. She has been an accredited colposcopist with the British Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology (BSCCP) since 2012 and was awarded membership of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (MRCOG) in 2012, followed by fellowship (FRCOG) in 2025.

She completed her medical degree and postgraduate training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the University of Mysore, India, in 1999. Since 2007, she has worked in the NHS, receiving training at major hospitals in south east London, including University Hospital Lewisham, Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Woolwich and King’s College Hospital.

Miss Bangari has been a Consultant at Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust London since 2017 and based at Medway Maritime Hospital NHS Foundation Trust since 2020. She is the lead for clinical governance. She also leads undergraduate teaching in women’s health for both King’s College London and Kent and Medway Medical School.

At Blackheath Hospital, she manages a wide range of women’s health concerns, including:

● Adolescent gynaecology

She adopts a holistic approach, tailoring both surgical and non-surgical treatments to suit each woman’s individual needs. She places a strong emphasis on patient understanding and wellbeing.

Her commitment to clinical care and teaching has been recognised through a Clinical Excellence Award from her NHS trust and several commendations from the Dean of King’s College London for her contributions to medical education. She has published in peer-reviewed journals and frequently presents her work at regional, national and international conferences.
