Yes, you can. Our private clinics welcome both self-paying and insured patients.

Self-paying patients are welcome to book any appointment directly, with no referral required.

If you're using insurance, most policies require a GP referral letter before your insurer will authorise payment for a specialist consultation — though some policies include direct-access routes that skip this step. We'd recommend checking with your insurer first.

For insured patients, please:

• Confirm with your insurer whether a GP referral is required for your policy
• Get an authorisation code from your insurance provider, if required
• Share your insurance details with us during booking, if you have them
•

If your insurer doesn't cover a particular test or treatment, you can pay for it yourself instead, we offer transparent self-pay pricing across all our services, so there's no need to go through your insurer at all if you'd prefer. Our team will always let you know in advance if something isn't likely to be covered, so there are no surprises.

For an example, cervical screening is a routine and involves a smear test, private medical insurance policies don't cover routine or preventative care, a standard across the industry. Because of this, smear tests would be a self pay service at London Gynaecology unless it is used to look at a new unexpected health issue persisting. 

You can choose to pay for it but if you would like to consult with your insurance providers first, we understand as well. You can let our gynaecologists know and they can plan the next steps with you.

Yes, we require a £50 deposit for self-paying patients, no deposit will be charged for insured patients. 

If you are paying for your own appointment:

• A £50 deposit will be taken when you book, with the remaining balance payable on the day.

• Your deposit is fully refundable if you rearrange or cancel with more than 24 hours' notice.

• If you cancel less than 24 hours or do not show for the appointment, your £50 deposit will not be refunded

If you are insured:

• Please don't forget to ask your insurer for authorisation before booking.

• Your card details will be taken to secure your appointment. No deposit will be charged, but you will be charged £50 if you cancel with less than 24 hours' notice or do not attend your appointment.

There is no requirement to bring anyone with you to your appointment but if you are feeling nervous, you can bring a relative, friend or trusted person or request for one of our healthcare assistants to be a chaperone.
