Dr Priyanka Patel is a consultant ambulatory gynaecologist at Homerton Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust and a menopause specialist. She qualified in medicine from the University of Cambridge in 2002 and began her career as a general practitioner, working in Greenwich for five years. She also gained valuable experience as a doctor in sexual and reproductive health, which deepened her interest in outpatient gynaecology.
Motivated to specialise further, Dr Patel joined the consultant-grade training programme in community sexual and reproductive health (CSRH), completing her training at Homerton Hospital in 2020. During this time, she also became an accredited colposcopist through the British Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology (BSCCP).
Her clinical expertise includes:
- Colposcopy
- Outpatient hysteroscopy
- Gynaecological ultrasound
- Contraception, including intrauterine devices and subdermal implants
She has a strong interest in managing a broad range of medical gynaecological conditions such as heavy menstrual bleeding, polycystic ovary syndrome and menopause care. Dr Patel is fully trained to provide all forms of contraception, including intrauterine devices and subdermal implants. She is also a registered British Menopause Society menopause specialist.
Priyanka is passionate about improving women’s health globally. She is a trustee of the Rama Foundation, a Cambridge-based charity whose current projects include supporting women’s health in the slums of Rishikesh and Haridwar, India.
Outside her clinical work, Priyanka enjoys swimming, baking and spending time with her two lively young daughters, who certainly keep her on her toes!
