Dr Renfrew is a UK-trained consultant interventional radiologist with over 20 years of experience, including two decades as the lead interventional radiologist at the Royal London Hospital, part of Barts Health NHS Trust. He currently serves as clinical director of radiology at both The London Clinic and The London Independent Hospital.
He has extensive expertise across the full scope of interventional radiology, with specialist areas including:
● Interventional cancer treatment (oncology)
● Procedures involving the liver, bile ducts and pancreas (hepatobiliary and pancreatic)
● Vascular and kidney interventions
● Trauma care
● Dialysis access
● Interventional radiology in pregnancy care (obstetrics)
● Interventional radiology in women’s reproductive health (gynaecology)
● Interventional radiology in paediatrics
Dr Renfrew earned his medical degree from University College Medical School, University of London, in 1994, graduating with multiple distinctions. He received prizes in all clinical final subjects – medicine, surgery, clinical pharmacology, pathology and obstetrics and gynaecology – and was awarded honours in obstetrics and gynaecology, along with the Joint Hetley and Aitchison Prize for best overall clinical performance across the university.
He went on to complete training in internal medicine and became a Member of the Royal College of Physicians, London.
He then undertook specialist training in radiology at the Middlesex Hospital and University College London Hospitals, followed by advanced fellowships in adult interventional radiology at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospitals and in paediatric interventional radiology at Great Ormond Street Hospital.
