Sexual Health
Sexual health is an essential part of overall well-being. It involves not just the absence of disease but the ability to have safe, respectful, and satisfying sexual experiences, along with access to information, care, and support.
A sexual health consultation provides a confidential and supportive space to discuss any concerns related to your sexual wellbeing, including STI testing, contraception, symptoms, or changes in sexual function. It’s an opportunity to receive personalised advice, appropriate testing, and treatment if needed, while also addressing emotional and relationship aspects that may affect your sexual health. These consultations are important because they help prevent long-term health issues, reduce the risk of transmission to partners, and promote informed, confident choices about your sexual health.

Sexual Health Consultation
During a sexual health consultation, you’ll meet with one of our GP’s or Consultants in a private, confidential setting. They will begin by asking you questions about your symptoms, sexual history, contraception use, and any past sexually transmitted infections (STIs). This helps them assess your risk and decide which tests are appropriate. Depending on your situation, you may be offered tests such as a urine sample, a vaginal swab, a blood test, and a physical examination with a chaperone present. You’ll also have the opportunity to ask questions and discuss any concerns. The aim is to provide respectful, non-judgmental care and ensure you get the right support and treatment if needed.
Results
Most results come back in 1 to 7 days: and we will email you the results of these as soon as we have them. If you prefer, we can arrange a follow up telephone call to discuss the results and any concerns that you might have.
GP Referrals
GP referral letters are not needed unless you are claiming your visit on insurance and your insurer requires one. However, GP referral letters are helpful because they provide your information and history so if you do have one please bring it with you to your appointment.
