Miss Theresa Freeman-Wang MBChB FRCOG Hon DSc

Miss Theresa Freeman-Wang is a Consultant Gynaecologist who supports women with some of the most sensitive gynaecological concerns. Patients commonly see her for abnormal cervical screening results, colposcopy, vulval symptoms, pre-cancerous changes, post-menopausal bleeding, menstrual problems and menopause concerns.

She has particular expertise in the assessment and management of pre-cancerous conditions of the cervix, vulva and surrounding areas. Theresa understands how overwhelming these diagnoses or referrals can feel, and her priority is to provide careful assessment, clear explanations and compassionate reassurance at every stage.

Theresa has worked as a consultant at The Whittington Hospital since 2002 and has led specialist colposcopy and vulval services for many years. She now runs dedicated clinics for complex lower genital tract conditions and works closely with dermatology colleagues to support women with long-standing or difficult vulval symptoms, including chronic vulval pain (vulvodynia). For patients, this means coordinated, thoughtful care that looks beyond symptoms alone.

In clinic, Theresa is known for her calm, respectful and non-judgemental manner. She takes time to listen carefully, acknowledges the emotional impact of intimate symptoms, and ensures patients feel informed and involved in decisions about their care. Many patients value her ability to explain complex issues in a way that feels clear and reassuring rather than overwhelming.

Alongside her clinical work, Theresa has held senior leadership roles in women’s health and cervical screening, both nationally and internationally. While she contributes to guidance and standards behind the scenes, her focus in clinic is always on the individual patient in front of her, ensuring they feel safe, heard and well supported.

Outside of work, Theresa enjoys art, medical history, theatre and boxercise.
