New Richmond Initiative Launches To Put Women’s Health At The Heart Of Community Conversations
The inaugural The Table, hosted by London Gynaecology, brought together the Mayor of Richmond alongside key representatives from local business, healthcare, wellness, media and community organisations to explore how collaboration can play a greater role in supporting women’s health and wellbeing.
A new initiative designed to bring together Richmond’s business, healthcare, wellness and community sectors has officially launched, with the Mayor of Richmond, Cllr. Nancy Baldwin, joining the inaugural gathering at Bingham Riverhouse. Created by London Gynaecology, The Table was founded on a simple belief: some of the most important conversations about women’s health happen outside the consulting room.
While specialist healthcare remains central to supporting women throughout their lives, the event recognised that wellbeing is shaped by much more than clinical care alone. Workplaces, local businesses, community organisations, fitness providers, hospitality, media and local government all play an important role in helping women live healthier lives.
Throughout the afternoon, guests heard from London Gynaecology consultants Dr Claire Phipps, Dr Priyanka Patel and Miss Mittal Patel, who specialise in menopause, cervical screening and pelvic health respectively, who shared personal reflections alongside practical insights into prevention, early intervention and the importance of empowering women with knowledge about their health.
Rather than a traditional networking event or healthcare seminar, The Table was designed to encourage meaningful discussion, challenge assumptions and create new connections between people working across different sectors.
Nicola Aspinall, CEO of London Gynaecology, said:
“Healthcare providers shouldn’t simply sit within communities, they should help strengthen them. Richmond has an incredibly engaged and collaborative community, making it the perfect place to launch The Table. We’re proud to support an initiative that brings together healthcare, local businesses and community organisations around a shared ambition to improve women’s health and wellbeing.
We hope this becomes a lasting part of Richmond’s community, creating opportunities for collaboration, education and earlier conversations about women’s health for years to come.”
Jenna McDonald, Brand Manager at London Gynaecology and Creator of The Table, said:
“The inspiration behind The Table came from a simple observation. Over the past year, I’d met so many inspiring people across Richmond who were all making a difference to women’s lives in different ways, but many had never met one another. Women’s health isn’t shaped by healthcare alone. It’s influenced by our workplaces, communities, relationships and everyday experiences.
The Table was created to bring those different perspectives into one room, because I believe some of the best ideas emerge when people who wouldn’t normally meet sit around the same table. If this initiative helps create new collaborations, strengthens our local community and encourages more open conversations about women’s health, then we’ve achieved exactly what we set out to do.”
Councillor Nancy Baldwin, Mayor of Richmond upon Thames, said:
“I was very pleased to be at this important inaugural networking event. Women face many health challenges, and it is important to discuss these and the inequalities they face openly and assertively.”
London Gynaecology plans to establish The Table as an ongoing community initiative in Richmond, bringing together people from healthcare, business, education, wellbeing and the voluntary sector to encourage earlier conversations about women’s health, inspire new collaborations and strengthen the local support network available to women at every stage of life.
