London Gynaecology appoints Ellis Downes as Medical Director

London Gynaecology is excited to announce the appointment of Mr Ellis Downes as their first Medical Director, joining us in a part-time capacity from 23 February 2026. Following a comprehensive recruitment and interview process, Ellis will provide senior clinical leadership and strategic oversight as London Gynaecology continues to grow and develop its consultant-led services.

In his role as Medical Director, Ellis will oversee clinical quality, patient safety and clinical governance across the organisation. He will support the development and implementation of clinical policies, lead quality improvement initiatives, and act as an ambassador for London Gynaecology within the wider medical community. He will also provide mentorship and professional support to clinicians, contributing to the continued delivery of high standards of care.

Ellis brings over 25 years’ experience in private gynaecological practice, with expertise spanning a broad range of women’s health sub-specialties. Alongside his clinical work, he has extensive experience as an expert witness and medico-legal advisor, bringing a strong understanding of governance, risk management and regulatory standards within private healthcare.
