Use Insurance for Appointments

Insurance at London Gynaecology

Please Note

If you’re booking a private gynaecology appointment in the UK and want to use insurance, please ensure the following steps are done before proceeding.

Read our step by step guide here

  • It is important to get an authorisation from your insurance provider before proceeding if you wish to use insurance and see which treatments will be covered.

Important Insurance Updates

AXA Patients:
HPV testing and ThinPrep cytology are no longer recognised or covered under their policy benefits.
Consequently, all AXA‑insured patients requiring either of these investigations must be charged on a Self‑Pay basis. London Gynaecology is not able to invoice AXA directly for these tests.

There are limited circumstances in which AXA may consider these tests for reimbursement. In all cases, the patient must still be invoiced as Self‑Pay, and may then submit the invoice directly to AXA for potential reimbursement, subject to the terms of their individual policy.

If you have any questions regarding payment or submitting a claim to AXA, please contact our team for assistance.

BUPA Patients:
BUPA, like many private medical insurers, sets its own reimbursement limits for surgical procedures.

Unfortunately, in some cases, these limits may not fully cover the fees charged by your consultant or surgeon or anaesthetist. This results in what is known as a "shortfall," which is the difference between the insurer’s contribution and the total cost of your procedure. The fees charged by our surgeons reflect their expertise, the time dedicated to your procedure, and the high standard of care provided as well as the costs involved.

However, as BUPA’s reimbursement rates are set independently, they do not always align with the fees charged by specialists. If a shortfall applies to your treatment, we will inform you in advance so that you can make an informed decision. We recommend that you contact BUPA directly to discuss your level of cover and any possible reimbursement options. Our team is also happy to provide guidance and support in navigating this process.
