Pelvic Pain Ultrasound Scan
A Pelvic Pain Ultrasound Scan is used to investigate the possible causes of pelvic or lower abdominal pain in women. Using detailed ultrasound imaging, the scan assesses the uterus, ovaries, fallopian tubes, and surrounding pelvic structures to help identify both gynaecological and early pregnancy-related conditions.

There are two main types:
- Transabdominal ultrasound: performed over the abdomen
- Transvaginal ultrasound: a small probe inserted into the vagina for clearer images, especially for smaller fibroids
A pelvic pain ultrasound can help detect:

- Signs of endometriosis or adenomyosis
- Polycystic ovaries (PCOS)
