Paediatric Adolescent Gynaecology FAQ's
If your daughter has any gynaecological disorders, it is important to seek professional care immediately. Chronic pain, abnormal bleeding, and contraceptive needs also qualify as reasons for seeking advise from a paediatric gynaecologist. One of the most common reasons adolescents see a gynaecologist is for help managing her periods. A girl’s menstrual cycle should not be so painful or heavy that it interferes with school or her extracurricular activities.
As young women develop, it’s important to have a trusted gynaecologist to care for their changing needs. Paediatric and adolescent gynaecology focuses on a unique subset of gynaecological disorders among younger females. In the paediatric patient, gynaecological issues often present as vulvar and vaginal problems, while in the adolescent patient, complaints of abdominopelvic pain and abnormal menstrual bleeding commonly result in a gynaecologic evaluation.
This specialty, is led by paediatric gynaecologist Mrs Pradnya Pisal, who will see all patients for paediatric and adolecent appointments. The goal is to provide young females with care, related to their reproductive health and development, including menstrual concerns like heavy bleeding or irregular periods, hormonal imbalances, pelvic pain, concerns about development, ovarian cysts or masses.
We see adolescent children with gynaecological conditions including:
- Menstrual disorders
- Vaginal discharge

All our paediatric aappointments are held at The Portland Hospital for Women and Children.
